Named After The Goddess of Love Aphrodite

The Akamas Peninsula in Cyprus offers an array of stunning hiking trails that cater to all levels of hikers. One popular trail is the Aphrodite Trail, which spans approximately 7 kms and takes around 3 hours to complete. This trail takes you through some of the most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes in Cyprus. It winds through the Akamas landscape, offering breathtaking views of the rugged coastline, crystal-clear waters, and diverse flora and fauna. This trail is named after the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, who is said to have bathed there with her lover Adonis.

Where it Starts

The trail starts at the Baths of Aphrodite, a natural pool surrounded by lush greenery and towering cliffs. Legend has it that Aphrodite used to bathe in this pool, which is fed by a freshwater spring. You follow the path until you reach Aphrodite’s sanctuary at Pyrgos tis regainas where you can have a rest under the 850 year old oak tree. From here, the trail winds its way through a dense

Spectacular And Breathtaking Views

You continue the climb from there to the rocky-table of Akamas known as Moutti tis Sotiras. After all the hard work you will be awarded with some spectaculars and breathtaking views of Cyprus, as far as your eye can take you. Take your time here and enjoy the views, take some memorable photos and have a little rest before you make your way back to the start point at the baths.

Best time to do this hike is in the spring where you will be rewarded with a multitude of wild spring flowers including gorgeous rock cyclamen and the teeniest vetch, star of Bethlehem and multicoloured anemones.

a tranquil pool below. According to Greek mythology, this is where Adonis, the lover of Aphrodite, was fatally wounded by a wild boar.

The Trail is Well-Marked
